Nirab is part of the HOT team as the Open Tech and Innovation Specialist for the Asia Pacific hub. He has been an active contributor in OpenStreetMap since 2013 serving as a community mobilizer,trainer and tool developer. During this time he has contributed to the growth of OpenStreetMap community of Nepal engaging various actors like universities, local government, international aid agencies, youth groups, non profits, and farmer cooperative. He also worked as one of the core volunteers to mobilize 7000 volunteers after Nepal earthquake 2015 to produce data that was used for rescue and relief efforts. He completed his masters in public sector innovation and governance where the focus of his thesis was on innovation in digital commons during crisis. Beside learning about technology and open mapping he likes to spend his time cooking and playing bamboo flute.
