Juris Zarins, Mg.biol. Background and basic education as forester. Currently working on data analysis for PhD in connection with riparian forest thematics. Work experience starting from cartographer involved in first forest map digitalization in Latvia up to forest management planning in Riga city forests. Resposible for forest digitalization and starting of GIS development in Latvia State forest service. Worked as expert to back up nature data management system, rural support system and national forest inventory data base development.

Project and research experience in fields of forest inventory data danalysis, remote sensing data use for forestry – aerial imagery, satellite data, lidar and drone as well terrestrial forest 3D scanning.

Recent activities are related to landscape ecological planning and mapping of forest ecosystem services and the use of this information for forest management planning in Riga city forests and old forest map, aerial imagery analysis in Latvian State Forest Research Institute “Silava”.
